Passenger Sit

For passenger seating on your vehicle, you will want to install the Passenger Sit script in prim such as a rear fender, along with some passenger poses.

When seated on a passenger prim, one can adjust its position by touching that prim for the passenger menu. Passenger position can also be adjusted by the driver using the Driver HUD or Mechanic HUD.

Your passenger prim should have at least one animation in it. If you want to get fancy, you can auto assign animations for Drive/Ride, Idle and Park states using the keyword drop in method. Using pose-synchronization, you can assign a passenger animation to change with any driver animation, including turning, any park pose, etc.

Installing

  1. Place Passenger Sit script in desired prim, make sure permissions are properly set for the script to operate
  2. Add at least one pose to the prim
  3. Add the optional Passenger Camera script

If Passenger ON does not now appear in the Vehicle Menu, reboot the vehicle from, the > Options, >Advanced menu. Also, double check that you correctly set the permissions on the Passenger Sit script.

For more than one passenger pose, or to synchronize poses with the driver, you can set up using the Mechanic HUD

New SL commands do allow child prim sit targets to be controlled from the root, however it makes more sense to organize driver and passenger animations by keeping them in separate prims.

A favorite prim to use for the passenger on a motorcycle is the rear fender. The actual seat prim itself may not be the easiest for a passenger to select and sit on, or touch for their menu. Also, if the passenger sit prim is too close to the driver, the driver will be much more likely accidentally sit on it.
